The final concert for the Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts, highlighting each of the award winners, will take place this Sunday (May 8) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre.
There will be performances in each of the four categories (drama, vocal, piano, and instrumental), starting with the special “Rose Bowl” presentation.
“We had a great year this year,” enthused Carol Lyons, who sits on the festival’s organizing committee.
“We had lots of volunteers and good adjudicators.”
She noted the numbers of participants was down only slightly, but continued to showcase all the talent of the district.
The highlights concert also will honour the Fort Frances Kiwanis Club, which first began sponsoring the festival back in 1935.
“They have continued to support the festival ever since and we’d like to thank them for all their years of assistance,” said Lyons, adding both former and present club members are invited to attend the concert.
Admission is $3, with children 12 and under being free.
