J.W. Walker, Donald Young School, and Sturgeon Creek will be confirmed tonight as the sites where full-day junior kindergarten will be rolled out in 2013/14.
Trustees officially will approve the “year four” sites as the Rainy River District School Board implements the final stages of the province’s full-day early learning kindergarten program.
Full-day early learning already has been implemented in Atikokan while it will begin at Robert Moore School here this fall.
“Year five” sites will be the remaining schools of Riverview, Crossroads, McCrosson-Tovell, Nestor Falls, and Mine Centre.
Recognition of Excellences for May also will be presented at tonight’s meeting—both for employee recognition for 25 years of services as well as to the early-learning kindergarten program at North Star Community School in Atikokan.
As well, School Effectiveness leader Sylvia Parker will outline the province’s “Schools in the Middle” initiative, which is underway at J.W. Walker here and North Star Community School in Atikokan.
Tonight’s meeting is being held at North Star Community School, with the public session beginning at 7 p.m.
