With recent word the Fort Frances “Scott Street Show ’n Shine” will not take place this year, Jim Sheppard of the International Early Iron Car Club will speak to town council at tonight’s regular meeting.
Sheppard wrote a letter to editor, which appeared in the March 30 edition of the Times, indicating the “Show ’n Shine” won’t happen.
In his letter, Sheppard noted that: “Due to the ongoing resistance, lack of co-operation, increased regulations, and frustrations of dealing with the Fort Frances town hall, the International Early Iron Car Club will be cruising west down Highway 11 in 2011.”
Instead of holding an event in Fort Frances this year, the club will be appearing at “Spring Fever Days” in Emo this coming Saturday (April 16), and possibly in Barwick and International Falls later this year.
Fort Frances CAO Mark McCaig said Friday that Sheppard was asked to come before council and bring forward the issues he may have related to the town and the annual event.
“The town is looking for clarification on the claims made,” he noted.
Also tonight, council also will receive a presentation from the Ontario Clean Water Agency regarding its 2010 annual report on local sewage treatment plant operations.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 6:13 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet first in-camera at 5:30 p.m., then go into public session by 5:50.
