According to the Canadian Cancer Society, cancer will attack 173,000 of us this year.
And in 2010, they raised $2.8 million in Ontario alone to try and combat this attack.
Here in Fort Frances, the local chapters of Beta Sigma Phi are preparing for their annual “Daffodil Days” in hopes of fighting back and conquering cancer.
“We were able to contribute $7,200 last year and sold almost all of the 1,500 bunches of daffodils sent to us,” said Taunia Klem, this year’s chairperson.
“The price for daffodils is the same this year, and we’d love to see a sell-out,” she added.
Money raised locally is donated to the regional Cancer Society.
The Society funds clinical trials, provides information to patients and family, and offers support services, including volunteer drivers.
To many, the daffodil is just a flower, but to us it is a symbol of strength and courage—a symbol of life.
It says, “We will not give up.”

Beta Sigma Phi members will be visiting businesses with pre-order sheets this week for daffodil delivery on Friday, April 1.
Pricing remains at $7 per bunch, or two bunches for $12.
