Those interested in learning more about their family history still can register for a workshop slated tomorrow afternoon at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre.
The Fort Frances Museum, in conjunction with the library, is hosting “Basics & Beyond” with Janis Higgins, former president of the Ontario Genealogy Society of Thunder Bay, to teach people how to access their family roots.
The workshop runs from 1-3 p.m., and there is a $10 fee to attend.

“It’s going to be really interesting,” enthused museum curator Sherry George.
“I think people will get a lot out of it.”
George said Higgins, who has spoken in Fort Frances before, has worked with genealogy for about 20 years.
“She’s got quite a bit of experience and she can answer pretty well any question you have,” George noted.
“I think we have a fair amount of people who are working on bits and pieces, but you reach a snag, so it’s nice to have someone around to point you in the right direction,” she reasoned.
And with a solid interest from at least a dozen people to attend tomorrow’s workshop, George is hoping they will be able to put together a local group focused on genealogy.
“We could maybe meet once a month and support each other,” she suggested, noting that perhaps in a year’s time, those interested could put together a display at the museum about what they’ve discovered.
“I think people, as they get older, are interested in learning where the came from,” said George.
