The Fort Frances Gillons’ Sharks Atom hockey team travelled to Kenora for a 13-team tournament on the weekend, where they advanced to the final before falling 6-5 in a shootout to the TJ Tigers (Red Lake) on Sunday.
Annalise Hayes and Daymond Morrisseau led the Sharks with a pair of goals each in the final while the Tigers were led by Anton Dodic’s hat-trick in regulation and then the game-winning goal in the shootout.
The Sharks nabbed a berth in the ‘A’ final thanks to a 3-0-1 mark during the round-robin, with the Red Lake Lions being the only team able to knot up the Sharks during the course of the weekend.
The local M.E.C. Bulldogs also took part in the Kenora tournament and skated away with the ‘C’ crown.
