All fire burning in the Municipality of La Vallee has been restricted until further notice due to the extremely dry conditions.
The district also has seen high winds that only would add to the chances of grass fires.

Cards played at the Devlin Hall last week saw Mary Gavin and Jim Kellar take the high score, with the low going to Rudy Meyers and Yvonne Kellar.

Tess Galusha and Tyler Mann were home for the Easter weekend. They surprised Tyler’s parents (Linda and Terry)—and a nice surprise it was.
Tess and Tyler are living in Lac la Biche, Alta., where she is director of Little Sprouts Child Care and he is a conservation officer.
It was nice to see them both, and to spend Easter Sunday with them.

The lucky winner of the Emo Legion’s 50/50 draw for March was Betty Kuitunen, who pocketed $825.50.

Donations for the penny tables during “Crafts Galore,” being held April 16-17 in conjunction with Spring Fever Days in Emo, would be greatly appreciated.

The Crossroads boys’ basketball team had a fine showing at the regional championship on March 27.
The team went undefeated in round-robin play (four wins and two ties) to finish in second place overall.
The squad then defeated Robert Moore 12-10 in the semi-final before losing 18-14 to St. Francis in the final to settle for the silver medal.
Team members were Robert and Jacob Empey, J.J. Fiset, Daniel Andy, Jeremy Shypit, Reece Jones, and Joey Angus.

Sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Vera Oster, who will be sadly missed by all.
I always remember her “happy-go-lucky” spirit.

Hats off to the Emo Legion members and volunteers who put on a delicious fish fry on Good Friday (April 2).
Well over 200 people were fed, and it was a delightful evening.

Robin’s 2¢:
A Devlin lady went to the doctor for her yearly physical. The nurse started with certain basic questions.
“How much do you weigh?” she asked.
“135,” the woman replied.
The nurse put her on the scale and it turned out she really weighed 180.
What is your height?” the nurse then asked.
The woman replied, “Five feet, six inches.”
Well, the nurse checked and saw that she only measured 5’2”.
The nurse also took the woman’s blood pressure and told her it was very high.
“Of course it’s high,” she screamed. “Why, I came in her tall and slender and now I’m short and fat.”
The doctor put her on Prozac.
