Families from across the district are invited to head out to the Barwick Gun & Hobby Show as it returns for its third year May 1 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
“I think it will be even better than the first two years,” organizer Scott Stafford said about the show, which will take place at the Barwick Hall.
Admission is $4.
“I think people—from the first two years—they have an idea of what to expect,” he noted.
“But we’ve learned from the first two years that every show will be different,” Stafford added. “So we’ll never have the same show twice!”
Last year’s show proved extremely popular, drawing roughly 600 people for the day.
“I think there’s more excitement this year,” Stafford said about the expected turnout for this year’s show, explaining he thinks many families know what a great day it is to attend.
Besides firearms and hunting gear, the show has featured booths with arts and crafts, and wood carvings.
And once again this year, there will be children’s activities, a canteen, and free coffee.
“Our tables are pretty well booked up for this year, so it will be a full show again,” Stafford enthused.
Returning once again for this year’s show will be the whitetail deer rack competition, with two categories—full rack and shed antler.
Stafford said people can enter the day of the show, with the winners being selected from the votes that people attending the show can cast for their favourite entry.
New to this year’s show will be a photography contest for trail cameras.
Each person is limited to submitting two photos, and they can be entered up until noon of the day of the show.
Like with the rack competition, the winners will be decided by people casting their ballot at the show.
