It was a silver showing for Donovan Taylor at the Man.-Sask. championships in Winnipeg over the weekend.
Taylor, 15, brought home five silver medals to go along with two bronze.
Three of his second-place finishes came in backstroke events, including the 50m (29.39), 100m (1:00.26), and 200m (2:11.31).
The other two came in individual medley events—a time of 2:13.28 in the 200m and a 4:48.48 in the 400m.
As for Taylor’s bronze medals, one came in the 100m freestyle (55.22) and the other in the 50m butterfly (27.89).
Taylor rounded out the weekend with a fourth-place finish in the 200m freestyle (1:59.37) and fifth-place finishes in the 50m freestyle (25.65) and 100m butterfly (1:02.29).
He recorded six personal bests over the course of 10 events.
A pair of local swimmers also made the trip to Winnipeg.
Levi Rittau, 13, set three personal bests, with his highest finish being a 10th-place in the 100m butterfly (1:21.69).
Rittau also finished 11th in the 200m freestyle (2:23.76), 12th in the 100m freestyle (1:05.79), and 13th in the 50m freestyle (29.87).
He concluded the weekend with an 18th-place showing in the 50m backstroke (37.27) and a 19th-place one in the 200m IM (2:52.72).
For Katja Sutherland, 14, her top results came in the form of 12th-place finishes in a pair of breaststroke events, recording a time of 1:30.77 in the 100m and 3:12.01 in the 200m.
Sutherland also took a 15th in the 50m breaststroke (41.18).
She finished her weekend with a 24th place in the 200m IM (3:01.99), a 34th place in the 50m freestyle (34.58), and a 35th place in the 100m freestyle (1:13.95).
