Thanks to the many customers from across the district who shopped at Cloverleaf in Emo last Thursday (Feb. 7).
The store was able to donate $3,843.14 to the “Canada for Haiti” relief fund.
Owners Mark and Dan Loney had pledged to donate 15 percent of the day’s total grocery receipts, up to a total of $10,000.
With the federal government matching the donation, the total going to help the survivors of the Jan. 12 earthquake in Haiti will be $7,686.28.

The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary is holding a draw on a beautiful framed picture taken of Off Lake by Paul Pirie (donated by Bernice Campbell), which currently is on display in the hospital cafeteria.
Tickets cost $2 each, with proceeds going towards the upgrading of X-ray equipment at the Emo Health Centre.
The draw will be made during the auxiliary’s annual “Strawberry Social” in June.

The next “Country Jam” at the Emo Legion will take place this Friday (Feb. 12) starting at 7 p.m.
Last month’s evening of country music was so well-attended that Legion staff had to hunt for extra chairs.
Seventeen musicians entertained a capacity crowd, with everyone enjoying a fantastic evening of “old-time” dance music until nearly 11:30 p.m.
If you love to dance, or just like to sit and listen, make sure you arrive early as possible.

The Rainy River District Women’s Institute is hosting a Heritage Day celebration lunch at the United Church in Emo next Friday (Feb. 19) from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Admission is $8, and there also will be a penny table and a bake table.
Proceeds from the luncheon will go towards maintaining the W.I. Museum in Emo.

There still are a few spots left in the third-annual Emo Inn Bonspiel which takes place Feb. 19-20 at the Emo curling rink.
The cost is $140 per team, which must be paid in advance.
Action will begin on the Friday at 6 p.m. and continue through to Saturday at 6 p.m.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided on Friday evening, and a dinner will be held on Saturday.
Live music on Saturday will be provided by “Centre-Line.”
There will be prizes for all participating teams.
