The Muskie junior boys’ basketball team was unable to beat their cross-border rivals in three tries this week, falling 37-20 and 51-29 on Saturday before slipping 42-30 last night.
The black-and-gold, however, did redeem themselves with a pair of wins over Littlefork on Saturday, winning 42-32 and 48-34.
Coach Greg Ste. Croix felt the Falls Broncos are the measuring stick to which his team looks at itself, and realized that despite a sparkling 6-0 record in NorWOSSA play, there still are areas where his squad can improve dramatically.
“It just gets back to basic basketball,” Ste. Croix stressed.
“They [International Falls] move the ball well, make their shots, and make their free throws,” he noted.
The Muskies began a busy week with a NorWOSSA match in Kenora last Thursday, taming their hosts 59-35 to stay perfect in league play.
The news wasn’t as positive for the Muskie senior boys’ team, who suffered their first NorWOSSA loss with a 49-41 setback in Kenora last Thursday.
Both teams were back in action here yesterday against the Dryden Eagles, then will wrap up the NorWOSSA regular season tomorrow (Feb. 11) in Kenora.
