With continued cases of gastroenteritis at Rainycrest Long-Term Care here, the visitor restriction that began on Jan. 12 will remain in effect until further notice.
Visiting is now restricted to one family member only and no children under the age of 18.
Each family member is asked to restrict their visit to the resident’s room and refrain from visiting other residents while at Rainycrest.
The public also is reminded to not visit if you are experiencing a cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Remember, the best way to stop the spread of infectious diseases is to wash you hands frequently.
“We appreciate the public’s co-operation with these restrictions,” said Rainycrest administrator Edith Bodnar.
“We understand the hardship this causes on many family members and on our residents, however, the quickest way to stop the spread is to limit the amount of interaction taking place within the facility,” she added.
The infection control committee will continue to monitor the situation, and a further update will be provided Friday.
