It’s doubtful any “gizzards” were frozen at the 2010 “Freeze Yer Gizzard Blizzard Run” held Saturday in International Falls in conjunction with “Ice Box Days” festivities.
Despite the unseasonably mild temperatures, which were near or above the freezing mark during the race, the show had to go on.
Brian Davenport, 35, and Jennifer Jones, 34, captured the men’s and women’s titles in the 10K race.
Davenport ran a time of 35:33 while Jones finished in 40:36.
The highest finisher from the local Energy Fitness Centre team was Nicole Rogozinski, who wound up sixth among the women and 30th overall with a time of 46:51.
In all, 120 participants completed the 10K race.
In the 5K race, 17-year-old Tyler Lehman wrapped up the men’s title with a time of 19:38 while Nancy Phillips, 58, was the top woman, finishing in 21:18.
Ashleigh Dutton of Energy Fitness was the club’s top runner in the 5K event, finishing third among the women and 19th overall with a time of 23:38.
A total of 163 racers finished the 5K run.
The local Energy Fitness team consisted of 23 runners over the two races.
