About 50 Special Olympics athletes from across Northwestern Ontario will compete in two events here Saturday.
Athletes from Fort Frances, Thunder Bay, Atikokan, and Terrace Bay will face off in floor hockey and snowshoeing.
The day will kick off with opening ceremonies at 8 a.m. at Robert Moore School, which also is hosting the floor hockey event.
That tournament is expected to run until around 1 p.m.
The snowshoeing event then is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the East End Hall.
Both competitions are qualifiers for the provincial winter games, which will be held in Thunder Bay in 2011.
