Suggestions for the name of the new school being built behind Robert Moore have started to flow in.
“We’ve had a really great response,” said Heather Campbell, superintendent of education for the Rainy River District School Board.
“There have been at least 15 submissions, and they range from people advocating for the new school to be called Robert Moore to other new and exciting names,” she noted.
The board will continue to accept submissions up until the deadline of Jan. 29 at 4 p.m.
The School Naming Committee—composed of Campbell, representatives from school councils, school staff, trustees, and community members—then will meet to review these submissions and recommend three possible names to the board shortly thereafter.
Reviewing and public input for the name is a part of board policy since the new school will be a consolidation of F.H. Huffman and Robert Moore.
Entry forms are available at various locations, including the board’s website (www.rrdsb.com) and at both Huffman and Robert Moore.
Meanwhile, as construction of the new school moves along, the public can see updates at the board’s website.
With a size of 51,000 sq. ft., the new facility will accommodate roughly 480 pupils from junior kindergarten to Grade 8.
