A Thunder Bay man pleaded guilty to charges of obstructing conservation officers and for littering.
Gary Letourneau was convicted under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act and fined $1,000 for obstructing Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers.
He also was convicted under the Public Lands Act and fined $500 for littering on Crown land.
Court heard that on July 25, conservation officers contacted Letourneau at the Poshkokogan River boat launch in Nipigon District.
When officers tried to conduct a routine fisheries inspection, Letourneau made statements in an attempt to obstruct the officers and subsequently was arrested.
Officers also discovered Letourneau left his campsite in the area littered with beer cans and other garbage.
Justice of the Peace Marcel Donio heard the case Nov. 23 in Nipigon.
The public is reminded it is illegal to deposit any material on Crown land or landfill sites without authority.
