Members of the Fort Frances Lakers hockey team will be bagging groceries at Cloverleaf in Emo this Friday (Dec. 11) from 4-6 p.m.
They also will be ringing the Salvation Army bells as well as selling tickets on a draw for free tickets to their next game, which will take place Saturday (Dec. 12) versus the K&A Wolverines at the Ice For Kids Arena in Fort Frances.
Everyone is invited to come out to meet the players and support the team by purchasing a raffle ticket.

The “Beautiful Baby” contest will continue at Meyers Clothing until Dec. 24, with monies raised going to support the Emo Spray Park.
Meanwhile, winners of the Knox United Church theme baskets also are reminded to pick up their prizes at the store.

The Emo & District Hospital Auxiliary would like to thank everyone who donated to the food bank during the “Holly Daze” parade on Friday evening.
Although the economy is slowly improving, a large number of families still need support, especially at this time of year.

The Clover Valley Winter Market Store, located at the Clover Valley Farmers’ Market building on McIrvine Road in Fort Frances, will be open for business this Friday and Saturday, as well as from Dec. 14-23 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Shop for home-baked goodies, handmade frozen entrees, party hors d’oeuvres, assorted vegetables, honey, and more. There also will be reasonably-price furniture and hand-crafted items such as jewellery, elk mitts, and many other items for sale.
Shoppers still planning their Christmas dinner also can purchase free-run turkeys and chickens (i.e., no antibiotics or hormones), as well as elk, beef, and pork products.

The Emo Centennial Choir will present an evening of Christmas music and readings, entitled “On That Night in Bethlehem,” this Friday (Dec. 11) at 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church.
Directed by Renée Martin-Brown and accompanied by Lisa Vos, the choir has been working for many weeks to prepare for the evening.
Guest musicians will include Katherine Williams, Diane Veldhuisen, and Dean Lindstrom.
Everyone is welcome to attend, with a free-will offering to go to help support a local charity.

A reminder the Rainy River Future Development Corp. will be holding a free workshop, entitled “Tips and Tools for Starting a Business,” next Wednesday (Dec. 16) starting at 10 a.m. in the training room at its office (608 Scott St. in Fort Frances).
In this session, participants will be given the tools to help them with the fundamentals of starting a small business, as well as some tips on getting started.
