Town council will be treated to a trio of presentations by the winners of the essay contest held in conjunction with Local Government Week (Oct. 18-24).
The winners include Grade 10 Civics class student Carly Pruys, and Grade 5 students Maddison Krikke (Robert Moore) and Emma Noga (St. Francis).
Council also will hear a presentation by economic development officer Geoff Gillon, who will deliver a report on Rainy River Future Development Corp. activities, as well as an economic development strategy and proposed budget for 2010.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. It will be preceded by an in-camera session, which is expected to last until 6:20.
Other items on the agenda will include:
•a report on decorating the lookout tower;
•2010 janitorial contracts;
•a request for a refund for a minor variance at 511 Keating Ave.;
•a report on an alternate voting service for the 2010 municipal election;
•a report on a rental property at 501 Sixth St. W.;
•a report on a CIBC bank loan renewal;
•a report on a reserve fund reallocation;
•a per diem claim for Coun. Sharon Tibbs;
•a verbal update from Community Services manager George Bell on local projects;
•a report on RFP 09-CS-17 (skate sharpening at Memorial Sports Centre);
•a request from the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce re: reduction of arena rental fees;
•a bylaw to amend By-Law 14/04 setting out the duties and responsibilities of the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Fort Frances;
•a bylaw to designate Lots 28 and 29 on Plan SM-44–1111 First St. E.;
•a bylaw to approve a service agreement with the Ontario Clean Water Agency for operation of the sewage treatment plant and lift stations (Tender 09-OF-09).
•a request for a letter of support from the RRFDC for a rural agricultural co-ordinator; and
•a request for nominations from the Rainy River District Municipal Association.

•an application for a municipal licence; and
•a potential property sale.
