The parishioners of St. John’s Anglican Church will be holding their annual St. Andrew’s supper next Friday (Nov. 27).
St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, so the dinner will feature traditional Scottish fare, such as haggis and neeps, prime rib and all the trimmings, and dessert.
The haggis will be piped into the church hall at 6:30 p.m., at which time the traditional “address to the haggis” will be performed.
After the meal, there will be Scottish music and dancing.
St. John’s parishioners are donating all the food so the entire proceeds of the evening will go towards the Eagles Wings Children’s Village in Uganda.
It provides Ugandan orphans with healthy food, safe drinking water, clean clothes, comfortable beds, and much-needed health care.
Seating for the supper is going to be limited to 80 people this year, so advance tickets are required.
They cost $20 each, and are available at Lidkea, Elliott & Lidkea, McTaggarts, and St. John’s.
