Rainy River Future Development Corporation is set to celebrate Small Business Week by hosting an open house tomorrow (Oct. 23) from 1-3 p.m. at its office at 608 Scott St.
“Our open house/meet-and-greet is for people to stop in, see who we are, find out a bit about what we do, talk about business, or make an appointment to talk about business,” explained Cynde Milette, manager of Corporate Services with the RRFDC.
This year’s theme for Small Business Week is “Your dream, your business, your passion,” which “reflects the energy and efforts of Canadian entrepreneurs of all ages and pays tribute to their important contribution to the strength of the economy,” according to the Business Development Bank of Canada, which first launched Small Business Week in 1979.
The RRFDC is encouraging people to stop by and see the many services which it offers to those who have a business or are looking to start one up, including comprehensive business start-up packages available, a full library of business information, and a public Internet station available for business or start-a-business purposes, noted Milette.
The RRFDC also is involved in “many development projects throughout the district—i.e., broadband/cell upgrades—and work for all the municipalities,” she added.
“We’re also always looking for members and committee members,” Milette said.
The RRFDC is a “membership-driven, non-profit, community-based corporation” governed by a yearly-elected board of directors.
The RRFDC is supported by FedNor and Industry Canada under the Community Futures Program, as well as municipalities throughout the region.
