After a promising four-touchdown performance in a loss to Miles Mac here last Friday, the Muskie football team took a step backwards yesterday with a 41-6 defeat at the hands of the Tec Voc Hornets in Winnipeg.
A general lack of execution in the red zone was the squad’s undoing once again.
“We got in the red zone a lot, but a few more turnovers and not executing when we needed to cost us,” offensive co-ordinator Andrew George remarked.
“We moved the ball up and down the field,” he noted. “I think we only had to punt twice, but we either turned it over on downs or just couldn’t quite punch it in there.”
Tec Voc improved to 3-3 in WHSFL play while the Muskies dropped to 0-5.
Fort High also lost the services of promising running back Tyler Abma, who went out with an injury early in the game.
Cody Bodnar replaced Abma in the backfield and ran effectively, but the black-and-gold’s lone score came on a quarterback sneak by Dan Brunetta.
The Muskies wrap up their season at home next Friday (Oct. 23) against Portage La Prairie.
