The OPP Emergency Response Team and canine unit, with assistance from the Ministry of Natural Resources’ air service and conservation officers, last night located a Kenora man missing since about 1 p.m. yesterday.
Dan Burgelis, 22, a Ministry of Natural Resources firefighter, was on a break during a training exercise north of Red Lake when he went for a walk in the bush.
When Burgelis did not return, his crewmates became concerned.
They began to search the immediate area and called for assistance.
Burgelis was located around 10:40 p.m. by the Emergency Response Team and canine unit about two km from the location he had last been seen.
He was in good spirits and physical condition when he was found.
Burgelis told police he had become disoriented and unable to find his way back to his crew.
