Fort Frances native Steve Arpin’s pursuit of his first ARCA RE/MAX Series victory soon may be a reality if his recent finishes are any indication.
Arpin raced to his best finish yet on the circuit Saturday night with a fifth-place showing in the Tim Richmond Memorial at Mansfield Motorsports Park.
The 25-year-old led for 14 laps just before the midway point of the race, but Patrick Kligerman took over in the second half to lead the final 100 laps.
Kligerman, who had his high school graduation ceremony Friday and then raced to the winner’s circle on Saturday, maintaining his points lead with 2,115 to date.
He’s followed by Justin Lofton (2,060) and Frank Kimmel (1,885).
Arpin, meanwhile, moved into seventh place overall with 1,640 points through eight events.
The next event on the ARCA circuit takes place July 11 at the Prairie Meadows 200 from the Iowa Speedway.
