The executive, board of directors, and volunteers of the regional Crime Stoppers program wishes to thank the students, faculty, and staff of area high schools for the invitation to attend their respectful schools to deliver the “Clear the Air About Crime Stoppers” program.
OPP co-ordinator Gary Potter successfully delivered presentations to high schools across the northwest over the previous year, including Fort Frances High School, Rainy River High School, and Atikokan High School.
“This project was developed and funded as a result of the efforts of community committee fundraising events which were supported by the public, and the response of the students and all who attended these presentations was outstanding,” Potter noted.
“We know there are crimes such as drug dealing by unscrupulous individuals occurring within our high schools,” he said.
“This project was designed to educate and increase the trust of Crime Stoppers within our high school age population, and it is working,” Potter added.
During this project, each student was provided an opportunity to go to the Crime Stoppers website—www.tipshelp.com—where they could register to receive audio and video podcasts of Crime Stoppers’ media productions while entering for chances to win numerous Apple products, such as an iPod Touch, Nano, and iTunes cards.
Students are reminded to go to the website and enter, if they have not already done so, as the draws for these prizes will be conducted at the office of OverDrive Design Labs of Kenora on Friday, July 3.
