The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association had its year-end meeting last week, with a mix of existing and new board members taking positions for next season.
Wayne Strachan will stay on as president, Milt Strachan continues as vice-president, Yvonne Noonan holds the post as secretary, and Kelly Jolicoeur remains registrar.
Todd Hamilton was voted in as treasurer.
Meanwhile, Brent Tookenay and Dave Egan stayed on as directors while newcomers Mike Allison, Scott Clendenning, Darwin Woods, and Justin Larson were elected to fill the remaining seats.
Don McCool, Cam Keast, and Duff Mosbeck will not be back.
“It’s always tough to say goodbye to board members, especially when you have served with them all for many years,” Wayne Strachan said. “These three have some 15 years combined on the board and several years of hockey knowledge.
“A lot of effort and work goes into trying to help the young hockey players and do what is best for their development,” he noted.
“The board has made a lot of great strides the past few seasons for the betterment of Fort Frances minor hockey. These three gentleman have put in a lot of time and hard work the past few years.
“They all will be missed for their efforts and contributions to the board and players of [the FFMHA],” Strachan added.
But Strachan also said the new members of the board are welcome additions in their own right.
“They all bring a lot of hockey knowledge and we can’t wait to hear the new ideas they will bring to the table,” he enthused. “The hockey experience that they have from playing and now coaching will be a great attribute to the direction [FFMHA] is striving and heading towards.
“The members of FFMHA should be proud as we’ve gained a lot of respect from other associations in our area,” Strachan remarked.
The board now is accepting applications up until May 22 for all ‘AA’ coaching positions, although returning coaches get priority.
The board’s next meeting is slated for Monday, May 11, at which time registration fees for next season will be discussed.
