With the 99-year lease for Pither’s Point Park set to expire at the end of this month, the Town of Fort Frances is asking the court to allow it to operate the park until a long-term resolution is found.
A notice of motion was filed in court last week.
As a result, legal counsel for the town will ask a court judge on Wednesday to consider allowing the town to keep running the park until ongoing litigation between the four area native bands and the federal, provincial, and municipal governments is resolved, or as long as the Ontario Order-in-Council that initially declared the area “a park” remains in effect.
