The Muskie senior and junior boys’ basketball teams kept their unblemished NorWOSSA records intact yesterday with hard-fought wins over the Kenora Broncos to improve to a league-best 6-0.
The seniors’ goal of a perfect NorWOSSA season almost was in jeopardy as the host Broncos came out firing with seven three-pointers in the first half to lead 36-32 at the break.
But the Muskies shut down the outside shot in the second half and battled back, gaining the lead after three quarters and finishing with a 64-55 win.
Jeremy Strain had 25 points to lead Fort High. Garnet Cornell added 16 while Travis Stromness netted 13.
The juniors also won yesterday in Kenora by a 44-24 score.
Meanwhile, on the volleyball court, the Muskie junior girls picked up where they left off after Wednesday’s win here versus Dryden with a four-set victory over Kenora by scores of 20-25, 25-14, 27-25, and 25-17.
That improved their NorWOSSA record to 5-1.
The Muskie seniors had an equally impressive showing yesterday in Kenora, sweeping the Broncos by scores of 25-13, 25-21, and 25-13 to even their league record at 3-3.
