It’s been another successful year for the “Adopt an Angel” program, with all 150 “angels” accounted for.
“I’d just like to thank everybody for contributing to the program,” said Jacquee Loerzel of Family & Children’s Services, which organizes the event that’s now in its sixth year.
The program, which wrapped up earlier this week, saw Christmas presents donated by the community for 150 children in need.
Each of these “angels” are children involved in FACS through such things as foster care, or if they from low-income families who need a little extra help at this time of the year.
Right now FACS is in the process of delivering the presents to the families so they will be there for Christmas Day, noted Loerzel.
Loerzel said some businesses and organizations made monetary donations while the Rainy River District School Board alone adopted more than 20 “angels.”
“So they were really a big help this year,” she remarked.
“I want to really thank everybody in the community, all the individuals in the community that purchased angels,” added Loerzel. “And I’d like to thank all the businesses and organizations who made donations.”
