On Friday (Oct. 3), Crossroads School in Devlin hosted the annual district-wide chess tournament for 111 players, who crammed in 555 games in the three hours between arriving and climbing back into buses and car pools.
The gym was a hive of energy from start to finish—and none of it would have been possible without the parents, EAs, teachers, and volunteers who helped pull it all together!
Many of the players earned the 2.5 points needed to qualify for the Northern Ontario Schools Chess Championships that will be held in Thunder Bay on Oct. 18—the last stop before the Canadian nationals.
