The Fort Frances Canadians Midget ‘AA’ team had its first home action of the season over the weekend.
The squad faced the West End Bruins (Thunder Bay) for a pair of games at the Ice For Kids Arena, splitting the contests.
Saturday afternoon saw the locals eke out a 3-2 win, which was described as a “penalty-filled affair” in a team release.
Brett Bodnarchuk, Brad McDonald, and Brandon Sinclair provided the offence for Fort Frances while Brennan Carroll made 47 saves in the win.
The Canadians fell short in Sunday morning’s rematch, however, falling 4-2.
Dylan Curtis and Tyler Fontana scored for the hosts but the Bruins notched three third-period goals to earn a split of the series.
Avery Adrian was solid in net in the loss.
The Canadians are not scheduled to play here again until they host their home tournament Nov. 26-28 at the Memorial Sports Centre.
