Be considerate

Dear editor:
We are very grateful to the community of Fort Frances and Rainy River District for generously donating your used goods to the Thrift Store here in town. Many of the items you have donated have been appreciated by others, and the profits we make are being used to help those less fortunate through our family services and food bank program.
However, we’ve been receiving a lot of people’s garbage lately. Some of the donations we have received are too old, broken, stained and torn, dirty, and useless to anyone else. These items have to sorted through and then thrown out. This is giving us more work and forcing us to spend extra money on garbage fees.
This is time and money that could be spent helping those less fortunate in our community and district.
We encourage everyone to recycle their valuables if they could be valuable to someone else. We appreciate donations that are clean, in good condition, and ready to be reused. Goods left over from garage sales and rummage sales will not be taken, and we only can accept already washed clothing because we do not have industrial washing machines.
Until further notice, we only will be accepting donations during business hours. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Please bring the donations inside instead of just leaving them outside. This eliminates goods being damaged in the rain or when it snows.
Thank you again for your support. With your help, we are providing good, reasonably-priced merchandise to all people in our community.
“When you help us, you are helping others!”
Signed,
Capts. Angel and
Marlene Sandoval
