The Town of Fort Frances is hoping someone has a tip regarding vandalism done at Pither’s Point Park.
Sometime over the weekend, a vehicle drove around in circles on the grass near VanJura Stadium, tearing up the ground and causing extensive damage to landscaping.
“It’s about $5,000 worth of landscaping work we’ll have to do in the spring because people are disrespecting the park areas,” Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown said.
“It looks like someone took a little car and did doughnuts out there,” he noted.
Brown said anyone with information about the vandalism can call him at 274-9893.
“If you know who did it, call the police or call me because we will lay charges,” he vowed.
“This is crazy,” Brown added. “It’s disrespectful, it’s costing the community just to repair all this stuff.
“It’s an eyesore now until next spring.
“To give you a rough idea, it was about $5,000 worth of damage,” Brown continued.
“Now, we’ve got to buy top soil, pay for the labour to put it there, grass seed.
“This all could’ve been avoided if people would respect things. . . .
“It’s kind of sad that everything’s tightening up financially and we’ve got people like that disrespecting public property,” Brown said.
