Well, nobody can complain about having nothing to do this weekend as the Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society stages its annual fall fair in Emo.
This event attracts people from all over the district, as well as visitors from afar, to enjoy the many activities the fair offers and catch up with long-time friends and neighbours.
Certainly one of the highlights is the crowning of the Emo Fair queen, which will take place tomorrow night (Aug. 14) upstairs at the arena immediately following the entertainment portion of the pageant.
The annual parade is set to go Saturday at noon, followed by the mini-king and queen crowning from 3-4 p.m. on the small stage.
There’s also the loggers’ competition Friday morning in front of the grandstand, the always popular midway, and two nights of stock car races Friday and Saturday at the Emo Speedway.
As well, “Nighthawk” will provide the music for family dances on both Friday and Saturday nights at the Emo Arena. Kids are welcome as no alcohol will be served.
Everyone also is welcome to see the many exhibits on display in the exhibition hall, as well as attend the 4-H shows and market steer auction.

Robin’s 2¢:
“I’m a walking economy,” a man was overheard saying. “My hairline’s in recession, my waist is a victim of inflation, and together they’re putting me in a deep depression.”
