The Northwest Catholic District School Board is proud to give out its Grade 8 Leadership awards for the 2007-08 school year.
The Grade 8 Leadership awards are awarded based on the following criteria: •The student must be a confirmed Catholic student who participates regularly in liturgical celebrations and sacraments and must be an effective communicator, who speaks, writes and listens honestly and sensitively, responding in light of gospel values.
•The student is a reflective thinker who solves problems and makes responsible decisions with an informed moral conscience.
•This young person is a motivated learner who develops and demonstrates his/her potential.
•This student respects the rights of others and contributes to the common good. We honour these students as they represent our Catholic Graduate Expectations in their day to day interactions with others.
We congratulate the following Grade 8 Graduates on receiving this award:
•Luc Desserre-Our Lady of the Way School
•Landon Bowen-Sacred Heart School
•Kelli Cole-St. Francis School
•Madelaine Arseneault- St. Joseph’s School
In addition to the Grade 8 awards, the NCDSB would also like to honour secondary school students.
Each year, the NCDSB honours former Grade 8 Catholic students at their high school graduation ceremonies.
The Secondary School Bursaries are awarded based on the following criteria:
a) Grade 8 graduate of one of the board’s elementary schools;
b) Student must be registered in a College or University;
c) Contribution to school, community and parish; and
d) Good academic record
This year’s recipients were:
•Kaitlyn Dawn Glena of Queen Elizabeth High School and former student of Sacred Heart School in Sioux Lookout;
•Sarah Carter of Dryden High School and former student of St. Joseph’s School in Dryden;
•Hailey Heyens and Richard Schulzki of Fort Frances High School and former students of Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton; and
•Alyshia Langlais of Rainy High School and former student of Our Lady of the Way School in Stratton.
We wish these students success in their future endeavours.
