The proposed building of a Boston Pizza restaurant on King’s Highway next to the Super 8 Motel is among the items town councillors will discuss tonight.
Council is likely to consent to the company’s request for development because of the steps it already has taken to acquire the land and the potential creation of up to 100 jobs.
Other items on tonight’s council agenda include:
•a Rainy River District public transportation issue (bus service);
•de-registration of subdivision plans;
•an advisory report on blue boxes given by Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown;
•water and sewer fund information as of May 31;
•a proposed bylaw to authorize with Local Authority Services Ltd. an agreement to respect the purchase of natural gas for consumption by the town;
•Employment Ontario and North of Superior training board adjustment resource kit (2008);
•a request from the Police Services Board regarding proceeds from the 2008 police auction;
•a request to proclaim July 21, 2008 as “Duncan Keith Day” in Fort Frances; and
•a request from the Canadian Society for Training and Development to proclaim Sept. 22-26 as “Learn @ Work Week” in Fort Frances.
