Dear editor:
Hockey and volleyball . . . great articles of teams that consist of about 24 people! Well, you forgot to mention our team of 43 people!
I just want to congratulate “the rest” of the run team that was excluded from the article on the Fargo, N.D. marathon in last Wednesday’s Times.
Way to go, Jay Sobkowicz and Megan Spooner, for completing 26.2 miles along with Ed Wiersema, who led training run groups for us.
A huge congrats to Connee Badiuk for qualifying for the Boston Marathon (in which we celebrated and drank champagne).
There also were five members who ran five km: Gina Pope, Sylvie Matthews, Bev Thomson, Shelley Wepruk, and Kim Roy.
I also would like to congratulate Jodi Easton, Dianne Faragher, John Young, Betty-Ann MacKintosh, Ashleigh Dutton, Heather Bridgeman, Angela Degagne, Meghan Haehn, Sharla McKinnon, Angela Petsnick, Tracy Cain, Cindy McKinnon, Amy Spicer, Shannon Munro, Andrea Turgeon, Penny Hutton, Terri Lee Tremblay, Tina Rawn, Kimberly Belluz, Kari-Lynn Beckett, Caryn Myers, Jayne Wyder, Lindsay Strickland, Stephanie Botsford, Lonna Oster, Colleen Wiersema, Melissa Belluz, Jan Beazley, Melissa Busch, Ann Anderson, Nicole Jewell, Kirsty Sinclair, and Penny Knapp for a job well-done on their half-marathons.
Quite a few of these individuals ran 13.1 miles for the first time!
I just want to let you know that it takes a good four months of training, five days a week, and all of us who crossed that finish line (including myself) do deserve an honourable mention.
Sincerely yours,
Jackie Lampi-Hughes
