Simply baffled

Dear editor:
I was wondering if someone could explain to me what town council is thinking about doing with our library. I was certain we had gotten past the point of “Do we need or want a new building?” and had answered “Yes, yes we do!”
Apparently, town council didn’t hear us. Which is very hard to imagine because I thought we, as a community, were quite loud and clear on the matter.
Now, to cut costs, some would like to add it on to the new Robert Moore School. That’s absolutely absurd. If it is attached to a school, it’s not going to feel open to the public. It being part of a school, can you tell me it’s going to be available at all times of the day to everyone and not limited to after-school hours?
Can council promise the students at Robert Moore wouldn’t take over the space, as it would surely feel as though it belonged to them?
I simply don’t know, after all this time, where some council members came up with the idea that Fort Frances doesn’t want this beautiful library that has been so well thought out by those who do know what we need. I’m simply baffled.
Don’t tell me it’s about money, that’s an excuse. That had been taken care of and now you’re giving us “what if’s.”
Fort Frances has never done a great job of progressing. Yes, not changing is comfortable, however, you get nowhere. This new library will be amazing for our community. We need somewhere pre-schoolers can have story time and a destination for seniors.
A place for those on town council to go and research what it is the people of their community want . . . because clearly they don’t know.
