The Fort Frances Times has launched a new look for its video medium on the Internet: fortfrances.tv . The design is more user-friendly and has a more appealing layout, producer Andrew George said. “It’s a little easier to get and find videos because they’re categorized,” he explained. “It’s a good start, I imagine. Once we get more videos, it might change, but it’s a good way to have it right now.” He hopes the site gets more “hits” because of its better design—and that people start relying on the site to access a broader picture of local news. “Just to have something that people regularly go to every day,” George said. “Just like someone would automatically turn on the TV every day, hopefully they’d automatically go to fortfrances.tv .” George believes having an Internet medium for newspapers is the way most papers are going and it’s essential that the Times, like other papers, adapts to new technological advancements. “It’s the way everything’s going,” he remarked. “You can see maybe in five years, television will be on demand, so it will basically go to an Internet type of format where you pick your show and you can watch it whenever it’s released.” George also sees the length of programs shortening because the amount of time spent waiting for shows will decrease. “They’ll be like five-minute shows and it’ll all be split up, so it’s just the way things are going,” he continued.
