Former Fort Frances Aquanaut swimmer Heather Dutton reached a milestone earlier this month by clocking a senior national qualifying time in her home pool at the University of Lethbridge.
Head coach Brad Mori was thrilled with Dutton’s accomplishment and had nothing but praise for his athlete.
“This young lady had a fantastic meet; she swam a remarkable seven out of seven best times, winning three gold [medals], three silver, and a bronze in her events,” he noted.
Dutton, a third-year Pronghorn and Kinesiology student at the University of Lethbridge, has remained there for the past two summers to train with the LA Swim Club.
“She is a team leader on a daily basis,” enthused Mori. “Dutton is a diligent worker—her attendance and commitment is impeccable.”
The hard work paid off as Dutton swam to her first Canada senior national time standard in the 50m fly.
She plans to continue her training in Lethbridge over the summer months, and is scheduled to compete in a number of upcoming meets in Vancouver, Calgary, and Montana.
She’ll also be at the Summer Senior Nationals in Winnipeg in late July.
