Football is swinging back into action with the start of spring camp, which gets underway today at Muskie Field.
The camp is open to students who already are in high school, as well as those who will be entering Grade 9 this fall.
The camp is touted as a fun way to get into the game and to learn new skills, as well as improve the ones you already may have.
The first week features an introduction to football basics and no equipment will be used. This is a chance to get potential Muskies caught up on the fundamentals, as well as giving them a chance to get used to the game of football.
The camp will run from 3:30-5:30 p.m. each day this week.
Then after Friday, the players will take a break before resuming the spring camp on the week of June 2.
At this time, they will throw on equipment and dive head-first into the fun, high-paced contact sport. The second week may culminate with a scrimmage, but that’s still up in the air.
The current Muskie football coaches expressed the need for more coaches for the upcoming season. Anyone interested in helping out should contact Shane Bliss or Vince Gouin at Fort Frances High School.
The coaching positions are filled on a volunteer basis, and provide great experience for those interested in football.
