Salvation Army to host dinner

The local Salvation Army wants to thank the community for its support with a special dinner this Saturday (April 19).
“We’re trying to say ‘thank you’ to those, who without any self-interest, do the best for the community through us,” said Capt. Angel Sandoval, adding he expects to see about 60-70 people on hand.
The meal, featuring a Chinese buffet, will be held at the former St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church beginning at 5 p.m.
The event will begin with a PowerPoint presentation of some of the work the staff at the local Salvation Army has been doing over the last four years.
Capt. Sandoval and his wife, Capt. Marlene, already have sent out invitations to various service clubs, businesses, and individuals who have helped out over the years.
Those who didn’t receive an invitation, but still want to attend, must call the Sandovals at 274-3871 before Friday (April 18).
Capt. Sandoval said there is no charge for the meal, and that they would not be soliciting for donations.
The event will include recognition of the volunteers and businesses that have gone above and beyond to make a difference in the community through the Salvation Army.
The guest speaker will be Maj. Susan Van Duinen, divisional commander for Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario.
