The Community Arts and Heritage Project (CAHEP) will be in Fort Frances this Saturday (April 12) to give residents an opportunity to self-identify areas of interest in arts and heritage education programming.
CAHEP, a successful community arts education organization based in Thunder Bay, is interested in sharing its best practices in arts education with communities across the province.
A public meeting with CAHEP co-ordinator Lila Cano has been scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Fort Frances Museum. This meeting is for potential partners, school boards, community members, artists, and anyone interested in learning more about this initiative.
“The communities have extensive input with this initiative because they are the ones who are choosing whether or not they are interested in this exciting initiative,” said Cano.
“They are also choosing what specific areas of arts education they are interested in exploring further—from school programming to artist residences to programming for excluded children and youth,” she added.
Cano also will be available by appointment on Saturday morning for those who are unable to attend the 4 p.m. meeting.

With funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, CAHEP began in March, 2003.
Since then, it has been an important resource for schools and the Thunder Bay community through developing and implementing multi-disciplinary arts and heritage educational programming throughout the city.
CAHEP has employed more than 60 regional artists and heritage programmers, has gained national recognition for its programming, and developed best practices models for arts education in Canada.
It has reached countless children, youths, and adults with hands-on work in arts education.
