Dear editor:
We would like to thank the 300 people who participated in the “Biimosetaa Walking Together to Overcome Racism” in Fort Frances on Good Friday (March 21) and who contributed to making it an outstanding and inspiring family event.
Thank you to the parents who walked with their infants, toddlers, and children in strollers. Thank you to the many teenagers, to the adults, and to all the senior citizens—some of whom walked with canes and some past 90 years old.
Thank you to the monitors and also the paramedic van who kept us safe along the route. Chi-Miigwech to the support that was given by the various political leaders who turned out in support of our walk.
We also would like to thank all those who contributed to the feast and celebration, the drummers, the musicians, the inspiring speakers, and all who made, donated, and served food.
The Right Relations Circle of Rainy River District has come together to promote just and equitable relations between aboriginal and non-aboriginal people so that together, step by step, we can effectively work for right relations with our economic, social, and natural environment.
We do this through self-education, sharing, and action.
