The 49th-annual Northern Ontario Provincial Fire Fighters Curling Championships will take place this weekend (Feb. 8-10) at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
Hosted by the Alberton firefighters, 22 teams will battle for the right to represent Northern Ontario at the national showdown March 26-April 4 in Richmond, B.C.
This national event is the second-oldest behind the Brier, and rated third by the Canadian Curling Association behind the Brier and the Scotties, with many Brier contenders attending from across Canada each year.
