Dear Mr. Editor:
I read with interest the column, “From the Publisher’s Pen,” regarding the shopping in Fort Frances and in particular downtown.
People usually will shop where they think it is most advantageous to themselves, and no amount of campaigns to shop at home will help very much.
However, shoppers may want to consider the following experience we had with a local longtime, family-owned firm.
In October, we purchased a washer and dryer to move to our main building so we could accommodate the many hunters who come late in our season.
As sometimes happens to machinery, we encountered a problem with the washer. We immediately phoned our supplier and advised them of the problem, whereon they said they would bring us a replacement.
Within three hours, we had a new washer installed in place and operating, delivered 100 km each way.
Somehow I don’t think we would have gotten this kind of service from a store located in another country or, for that matter, from a “big box store.”
We say well done, Green’s Countrywide!
Signed,
Les Helliar
