Two dozen participants battled it out in five divisions at the Sunset Country Squash Club’s Christmas Break tournament.
In the ‘A’ division, Anniss Seid went undefeated to claim first place, with Donny Brown in second.
Joel Skirten, meanwhile, played very well en route to an undefeated record and first place in the ‘B’ division, followed by Anika Alexander in second.
The ‘C’ division saw Gavin Moorhouse emerge victorious after a 3-0 win over Eric Bois in the final. The consolation winner was Jordan McTavish, who earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Kaitlyn DeGagne.
Katie Sinclair took first place in the ‘D’ division after finishing the round-robin format with seven points. Dylan Ossachuk was second with five points.
And in the Rookie division, Maryam Seid captured top spot, with Brayden Spence second.
The next major tournament for some of the local junior players will be the Manitoba Pro-Am Open and the Manitoba Junior Open.
But before that, some of the juniors took part in the “Polar Plunge” here yesterday to help raise funds for future squash events.
