The Br. #29 Legion Ladies Auxiliary held its general meeting Nov. 14 at the Legion Hall.
President Silvia Gunderson draped the Auxiliary Charter in memory of deceased members Betty Newman, Marg Woodbury, and Ivy Johnson.
These ladies were hard-working and devoted members of the auxiliary for many years and they will be sadly missed.
After dealing with the regular agenda items, President Silvia Gunderson asked Comrades Glen Westover and Bob Boland to conduct elections for the 2008 auxiliary executive.
Elected to serve in 2008 were Silvia Gunderson (president), Alfreda Easton (first vice), Lorine Ring (second vice), Diane Taggart (secretary), and Helen Pohanka (treasurer).
Rounding out the executive are Evie Gosselin (membership), Barb Everatt (entertainment), Josie Miller (social), Sandy Pruys (ways and means), Florence Hill (sick and visiting), and Chris Eisenzopf (publicity).
The Sgt.-at-Arms position remains vacant. If any member is interested, contact Silvia Gunderson.
Winners of the monthly draws were Grace Armstrong (birthday) and Clora McEvoy (attendance), with the early-bird membership draw being won by Linda Larocque.
For those ladies who are planning to attend the annual district meeting in late March, please note it has been moved to Red Lake as there is no accommodation available in Ear Falls due to construction projects.
We have extended our disappointment to Ear Falls president Sherry Ginter . . . as many members know, she was so looking forward to hosting this event!
We will have more information available in the New Year on this.
Meanwhile, the conveners of the annual Remembrance Day Tea wish to thank all who worked and donated to it. We are pleased to report it was a huge success and are grateful to the entire community for their continued support.
In closing, the auxiliary members wish everyone a safe, happy, and prosperous holiday season. We ask that each of you remember our troops who are far away from their loved ones at this special time of year and to pray for their safe return home.
May 2008 bring peace and goodwill to all!
