The Fort Frances Horticultural Society ended its activities last week with a fantastic meal.
The year was filled with gardening efforts at home and in the community. We worked at the Heritage Depot, Rainycrest, the library, and the petunias on Veterans Avenue.
Programs were given on topics of interest to members. Here you can learn about garden care, heritage seeds, decorative grasses, roses, and exhibiting.
This leads to the annual Flower and Vegetable Show.
Next year’s programs already are in the planning stage.
As well, several garden tours were co-ordinated by Anne Ostby this past summer.
The awe-inspiring gardens were the creations of Fred and Ruth Claussen, Bob and Elsie Ward, Viv O’Donnell, Georgina and John Plichta, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Jordan, Bev Dawkins, Vi Belluz, Mamie, Dave and Marie Gregory, and Ray Scott and Laurie Miller.
All our efforts are to benefit our community, as well as to educate. Our world is a garden and we celebrate the results of the labours of all the gardeners of Fort Frances, not just our own.
Please join us in the 2008 season.
