Christmas cantata rehearsals starting

Diane Maxey will be starting up rehearsals for her annual Christmas cantata in just a few weeks.
The first practice, which will be primarily a listening session, is slated for Monday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church here.
“The music has been ordered and is on its way . . . it’s a very easy one this year,” Maxey noted, adding people should come prepared to sign up.
Since the choir will meet just once a week (Mondays at 7 p.m.) and there are not many rehearsal dates scheduled, Maxey is asking anyone interested to come to the listening session Oct. 29, or at the very latest by Nov. 5.
“They’ll have to sign up by then because we don’t have a lot of time left,” she indicated.
The performance date for the Christmas cantata is set for Dec. 16 at St. Mary’s Church. An additional concert will be staged in International Falls, but a date for that one has not been set yet.
Maxey is encouraging all past cantata members to sign up again this year but stressed new members also are welcome.
The only cost to participate is to pay for the music.
