The Fort Frances Jr. Sabres played three games over the weekend, coming away with a win, a loss, and a tie on their first road trip east.
The Sabres came out strong Friday night, topping the host Marathon Renegades 4-2.
But the Renegades exacted revenge Saturday night, winning 6-5 in overtime after overcoming a 5-2 lead Fort Frances had built up midway through the second period.
The Sabres then battled the Schreiber Diesels to a 3-3 tie yesterday.
Sabres’ captain Quinn Amiel, the SIJHL player of the month for September, scored all three goals against Schreiber.
Amiel was the most productive Sabre over the weekend, netting five goals and three assists over the three games. Centre Mitch Cain also made his presence felt on the scoresheet, earning two goals and five assists on the trip.
David Novak was between the pipes for all three games.
The Sabres (3-5-2-1) currently sit in sixth place in the SIJHL, behind the Diesels but ahead of the winless Thunder Bay Bulldogs.
